Hello, everyone!
My name is Nicholas D'Agostino and I am excited to say that I am the Founder of The Safe Heaven!
I was born on August 15th, 1989, the son of Albert and Susan and the identical twin brother of Anthony. My brother and I were born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a genetic neurological disorder. I walked until I was 6 years old and have been confined to a power wheelchair since I was 7.
Over the years, I have had to rely on people to do things for me that the majority of people take for granted. Throughout my life, I have dealt with spells of bullying, anxiety, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. I have used alcohol as a getaway. I have hurt and been hurt. I have failed and succeeded. I have quit and then tried again. I am human, to say the least.
I love Jesus Christ. My faith in Him has given me a flashlight to use in the dark. The people at Christian Faith Fellowship Church www.cffchurch.org have given me a second home and I am forever grateful. I promise I will not preach or force my beliefs on any of you, unless you ask. I will only discuss my faith in the appropriate boards, however I will act through my faith all of the time.
I love my family. They have shaped me into the individual I am today and I would not be here without them.
I love my friends. They have made me feel loved beyond words and as normal as possible. I am blessed to have a handful of friends who I will be able to cherish all of my days.
Unfortunately, my situation has robbed me of many activities and memories that my friends have had the opportunity to experience. However, it is fortunate at the same time. My circumstances have weeded out the superficial aspects of life and have enlightened me in a way that I will probably never fully appreciate.
I have been forced to develop an ability to understand people and have endured great struggle. I will use my positive attitude and experiences to help you with yours, as much as humanly possible.
